As Software Engineer Smart Sensing Solutions (f/m/d) you will be part of a highly qualified team in an international environment (including Germany, USA, China, Portugal) with networking within and outside the Siemens Group. The position offers you professional insights into various domains and projects: from industrial automation to railway technology to smart grids and smart cities as well as healthcare. What part will you play?
  • Sensors and sensor systems are key components in all technical systems. They provide data and information about the operating state and its environment. In addition to miniaturization and increasing integration, new sensor principles with own intelligence, data pre-processing "at the edge" and intelligent data evaluation in combination with artificial intelligence are important trends
  • With your excellent knowledge in the field of software development, you will work on innovative sensing solutions for our internal and external customers to provide them with competitive advantages
  • You have a good sense of disruptive trends and innovations; you like to observe new developments in the industrial and academic environment and to drive topics within national and international funded projects
  • You are highly familiar with state-of-the-art open source and industrial software components, evaluate and apply new technologies and software and bring your own ideas and implement them in the projects
  • The realization of demonstrators and prototypes is also part of your area of responsibility
  • You support an open and collaborative work culture in our international project team
  • You appreciate intensive communication and close cooperation with internal and external project partners from the Siemens sectors, but also with external customers, universities, and institutes
What you need to make real what matters.
  • You have successfully completed your university studies in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or engineering
  • You are an expert in software engineering with experience in the design and implementation of software systems in Python, GoLang and/or C/C++, ideally with IoT and edge systems based on Linux Operating systems, using Docker and Docker Compose
  • You have a proven research and development track record in the areas of IoT systems and applications
  • You have good knowledge in sensors, sensing systems, data analysis, machine learning and AI
  • You are well versed in the open-source culture and associated code sharing platforms (e.g. GitHub, GitLab)
  • You love working with highly motivated teams bringing in your own ideas and strengths
  • Very good German and English skills complete your profile
